Returning to the UK from living abroad really reinforces the reason for living abroad. I've been abroad for 20 years, and every year the UK is declining, getting more repressive, the people more propagandised and divided. The police can't deal with basic crime, the public are in fear, the public services are poor. It's obvious what has happened, but the people are in denial, and really do think the government narrative that small boats and Russia is to blame is true. The people need to wake up. There is a way out of this mess for Europe as a whole, but I don't see it if the people are just happily anaesthetised with government propaganda.

As I follow geopolitics I left the UK 10 years ago when I saw the USA coup Ukraine in 2014, I knew it would go downhill in Europe and the West as we all jump off a cliff with the USA. The thing is the rest of the world outside the West is also seeing a massive influx of Western immigrants now who know what's coming. Even Russia is offering permanent residence after a 3 year visa working in Russia for Westerners. There is a whole world of opportunity now outside the West.

Only a few have the ability to leave the UK. I feel sorry for the young families or people who have just struggled to buy a house. The UK people are to blame too, they walked into this, they failed to see the obvious signs everything was failing, and still put the same people in power. I know it's not democracy anymore, but they think people like Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farage are the answer to the UK's problems now.

There are some great opportunities in Russia, who are offering permanent residence for people wanting to escape the West. The whole West that is still relying on the USA is going to suffer like the UK is. When you migrate make sure you make a good choice based on the geopolitics.

I couldn't stop laughing at Trump and Vance calling out Zelensky's anti-Russian nonsense at the end of the press conference. Zelensky came to fight and threaten the US for money, and he lost again. It's a good sign for Europe, they will be forced to drop their decades old warmongering with Russia that they instigated and the US capitalised on. I laughed when Trump said to Starmer this week 'do you think you can fight Russia without us?' Hopefully the US pulling out now will be the start of the recovery of Europe and the UK. Or it could go completely the other way depending on how propagandised Europe is at the moment.

You are very wise, many people still think the UK is a good prosperous country, we are taxed 3 times and even on the minimum wage you are taxed at 43%, and between 100k and 125k you are taxed at 77%, when combined the 3 taxes you have to pay that go to the government. We get the most basic public services back from all that tax too. But we do spend all our tax money funding wars for US gas and energy corporations across the world, and our governments are forced to do that being subservient to the USA. Best to go to countries that are free and not controlled by the failing USA.

It shows the US can tell the truth when it is desperate. US has exactly the same issues, but US wants to get out of Ukraine, as they themselves are $31Trillion in government debt. It's a bit of pot calling the kettle black, but it's good to see some politicians telling the truth for a change. Makes the EU look like a clown show at least. US just pulled out of funding a lost war and left it to the EU, EU could have done this anytime, but thought the US would back them up!

Your facts are right, but your narrative is incorrect. The immigrants are not chancers, they are being deliberately and physically brought into the UK by the Tory and Labour governments as cheap labour, that is why they put them up and process their visas and give them what they need. That's how the UK and US is trying get themselves out of the economic crisis with cheap labour and short contracts. US just did the same, physically bringing in 10 million illegal immigrants for cheap labour, and giving them the right to vote. Democrats thought that would secure their victory, but it back fired. The UK was already lost 3 years ago when our war with Russia failed, this week Europe and the UK are supposed to be celebrating paying 3 times more for our gas and energy because it doesn't come from Russia anymore. That's how warped it's got in Europe. We had it good with 50 years of cheap energy from Russia, and we blew it all away because the US using NATO wanted to try and break Russia and sell us US gas instead. US got their monopoly on Europe now, but we have to pay the cost. If anything these immigrants working cheaply are the only way the UK is going to get back on it's feet, and that will be two decades at least of us living to a very low standard, with higher crime, higher costs and less social and health benefits.

@laurenmariemarie4923 it's good to get financially independent and have freedom to travel. If you are single it's really easy, and if you have a job you can do remotely even easier. But if can live in one country and work in another, even in the UK that makes life more bearable as you plan to emigrate. You don't have to go all in.

SE Asia is awesome. Great to get away from the repressive West. Best to visit Asia a few times first. See if you can handle the change in climate, language and food. If you have problems with these things it will dictate where you can live and how much it will cost you.
