@ not the thing you have in Russia, the name of that is autocratic kleptocracy, neither what Trump wants to have in US, the name of that is fascist stupidocracy. So, we are better off with the democracy we have in most EU countries (except Hungary) than any version of political regime you find elsewhere (with a few exceptions that are basically like us, such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and a few others)

@johnchristiansen5968 As one who has lived 20 years under a military dictatorship, I am pretty happy with the functioning of the democratic institutions in Europe. Here we have respect to the legal rights of the citizens, effective freedom of speech and political participation, guaranteed rights for public demonstrations, etc. etc. etc. For me, sounds as good as it can get. If I was not a slave or a woman in Ancient Greece, I would probably be happier there discussing the collective decisions in the Agora of Athens. But in this XXI Century, I don’t see how this can be improved. On the other hand I see how fragile it is with all those fascists vultures flying above and ready to kill the enough democratic freedom we have. This is why I see that criticism of the current democratic institutions plays nicely at the hands of those vultures - this is exactly what they want.
