  1. Jeez, can you IMAGINE the insane costs involved if OSHA was tasked with regulating the foreign sites and facilities of US-based companies? The staff, the new facilities, the travel, visas, needed equipment and infrastructure, there would be tens of billions in new costs followed by billions per year in ongoing costs. Current OSHA budget, to only regulate private companies within the US (remember, all federal entities and municipal/city governmental entities are completely OSHA exempt), for 2019 is $557 million.

  2. What's interesting to consider is that municipal/federal government entities are OSHA exempt. I work in a municipal water plant, and, due to nationwide concerns over terrorism risks to critical infrastructure, the City policy of my employer is to allow workers whom are licensed by the state to be armed at work, regulated solely by state law. As such, some of us do carry firearms for protection. Recent changes in state law also now put the act of assaulting a municipal employee in the course of their duties (water workers, power company workers, administrators, and a long specific list) on parity with assaulting a police officer.
