  1. You exploitation is millions of others lives on the line. If the upper Mississippi, where I live, wasn't controlled as it is, every spring you'd have trillions of dollars of damage visited on our economy, from flooding. It would be a 'worst disaster is history' at least once a year. Without controls on the lower Mississippi, the river would change course and enter the ocean 25 miles west of New Orleans, leaving it high and dry and destroying the 2nd largest US port, again to the tune of trillions in damages.
