No other women have ever CARED enough for me to be friends, women are mean and cruel and petty, men are nice, it's no contest. If women liked what I like, women would do better. Step up women.

I recently read some advice for parents that seems like it would work just as well with people you genuinely care about, if they tell you they're struggling or having difficulty, just telling them you hear them and I BELIEVE IN YOU, can go a long way. I know if I told a buddy I was nervous about something and their response was "Why? You have this, I believe in you, you'll do great" that would be huge.

  3. I have the perfect example of why you are right: the astonishing success and popularity of REACTION videos. On its face it does seem stupid, I'm going to watch this person watch a movie, I could just go watch the movie...but we are FASCINATED and OBSESSED with seeing how other people react to things, to see if it lines up with our own experience. It has to be a giant drive in us because it's completely taken over social media and video platforms, reaction content is like 75% and 20% of the remainder is content reacting to the reaction. We watch reaction videos for the reactor, not the media, and that's wild.

  8. I recently looked at a directory of local therapists, I want to see someone in person, and I want to see a man. There are none. There's a hundred women counselors nearby, but I want someone I can relate to. It's a serious issue.

  9. Add my two cents: MANY of us are begging PERMISSION to be part of a community, but that takes being TOLD you're in the group. Saying welcome is not as inclusive as saying you're already here, glad you came. Some people can't take the invite, they're socially awkward. If you welcome me but don't tell me I belong, I'll doubt it and probably won't walk in, i feel i don't belong. But if someone TELLS ME, gives me the social proof and validation, ill never want to leave.

  12. As an adpotee, I've come to realize it literally is I can't get over my first big breakup, where my mom rejected me as a man and abandoned me. Rejection elsewhere doesn't bother me, even from other men. But female rejection, I feel like that toddler being thrown away all over again.

  15. What helped me, and I arrived at this alone, is that feelings have no meaning, because they're irrational. They're chemical reactions. You are not responsible for them. Thoughts, ideas, and actions are rational, they do have meaning, and they matter.  @katethegratedcheese

  16. Just realized, if any other human person is boring to you, that's solely YOUR failure of imagination. Think about yourself, you are a vast virtually unknowable thing, you don't even know yourself all that well. So engage that imagination, I use this trick: think about what you want to know about you, then ask other people that. Like, i wonder how I feel about X, hey other person, random question but how do you feel about X? Oh, that's an interesting answer, i would have never come to that conclusion, thanks! And now your entire thinking changes. Nothing of infinite complexity can be boring, your improper study of it is boring.

  18. People are infinitely complex. If you get bored studying something of infinite complexity, it's not the fault of the thing, it's your failure in studying it. In 40 years so far I've never run out of fascinating questions to ask myself, so I can't imagine running out of things to ask someone I'm actually engaged with studying. If I'm fascinated I obsess.

  19. ​ @giftzwerg7345 if someone asks what happened I'll tell them what happened. If they ask how I feel, that's a different and unrelated conversation to the facts of the event. Remember, feelings are involuntary chemical reactions, so they are both by definition irrational and meaningless. It also means you are not responsible for feelings, they're just feelings. Thoughts and ideas on the other hand require rational, meaningful deliberation, meaning you are liable for THOSE.

  20. I've noticed this about myself, I'd rather be out DOING things than sitting around with people talking about doing things. It really makes it hard to be in the moment. I'm always thinking I should be somewhere else, what am I doing AFTER this is over, what SHOULD I be doing right now instead of what I am doing?

I'm 40 and the sole compliment I've ever gotten from a woman I'm not related to was from a gay man, who told me I was too cute to look that sad, what's wrong, are you ok? Not even my sisters care enough to ask like that gay man did, proving again men are better than women even at acting like women.

  25. Knowing the problem is literally over half the battle. If I know what's wrong with something, that half the fixing DONE. Taking it apart, fixing, and putting back together is the other 20%/10%/20% I've long said that, if I knew what was wrong I'd have it fixed already, troubleshooting takes the longest. You can't make a travel plan without knowing your destination.

  26. ​ @mmecharlotte where I live, I want therapy... problem is there are none. If I want a MAN I can see in person, it's a 90 minute drive one way. If I want to see a woman, there's 50 in walking distance...but all my issues are with and due to women, so I want help from a trained masculine figure... can't find one. I'm being oppressed by this.

  27. I've started doing an exercise where when I feel like I'm too self-aware, I'll snap my fingers close in front of my face, an interrupt, and tell myself EXTERNAL focus, NOT internal. Think about the environment, think about what other people are doing and appearing as, focus OUTSIDE yourself, engage your CURIOSITY. Curiosity is the most powerful emotion in my opinion, it overrides fear.
