  1. I work in a water plant, my daily uniform costs far more than any suit I've owned. Good boots, $250 Good pants, $75/pair Custom graphic pocket t shirts, $150/5. Good socks, $15/pair x 5 pairs. Under armor undershirts, $25 each. Pocket knife, $150. Of course, my employer allowances me $400/year for clothes, and $160/year for boots...isn't the taxpayer funded public sector great.

  2. I fully get what Lou is saying about it being weird. I lived in a bad part of St Louis County when I was in college, and when a friend from back home visited for a while they were a bit freaked out at first by the more than occasional nearby gunfire. My response was eh, it's not that close, and usually there's more, nothing to worry about. This did not comfort my friend.
