  1. And here I thought just needing a general 'business license' where I live was cumbersome, sheesh. And a service business can operate unlicensed entirely. Here (Missouri) you only need a business license to operate if you sell goods. I do water treatment and regulation compliance consulting for small water systems as a second job to my career as a certified water treatment plant operator and manager, and being a service business there's not even a license I can get, much less one that's required.
