I run a water plant. I'm under a self-isolation request, I'm not to go in any public building or interact with the public for any reason while working. There are literally only 3 people anywhere qualified to run our plant, and we've all been deemed 'irreplacable'. Time off, canceled. I'm working overtime. Water demand is actually up as everyone stays indoors and washes everything in a panicked fashion.

I've heard they're working on an antibodies test that will show if someone has had the virus in the past, and when that is available I bet things really do change. It's one thing for half a million people to have it and tens of thousands die, but quite another thing if we find out the deaths stay the same but turns out tens of millions of people already had it and got ill and recovered or didn't even realize it. That's a big problem, because that outcome would mean this whole lockdown fiasco was for nothing, we caused the worst economic disaster in human history BY MISTAKE. It's actually quite akin to an allergy. When presented with what in reality is not a major threat, the body overreacts so severely it nearly kills itself, for no good reason.

Chaos Undivided Same here. I was seriously sick from Dec 23rd all the way through new years, and had this rattly, phlemy cough that sounded terrible through about valentines day. Bad fever, all-over body aches made worse by shivering, unstoppable runny nose, horrific sore throat, terrible cough and coughing, very swollen neck lymph nodes, but no nausea, no digestive issues, no vomiting. I thought it was strep at first and took some antibiotics I had on hand, which overnight almost eliminated the sore throat, but the rest of the symptoms ran their course.

I'm not a celebrity, I'm not wealthy or rich, but I've been aware of my 'property privilege' during all of this. I own 100 acres, my nearest neighbor is a half-mile away, the nearest police station is half an hour away. As long as my utilities keep working and I have supplies, it's no problem for me to stay home, there's tons to do around here. From that perspective, if i was back at college right now in my 900 sq/ft apartment living with thousands of other people on top of me I'd be freaked the fuck out and climbing the damn walls lol. I really do feel for people who are literally trapped inside a small space and can't go out and walk for miles without ever leaving their yard.
