  1. Lol, tell us you've never been a public employee without saying it. Every penny you spend takes away from your budget and hurts you. If the police did no search I'd believe you. If they skipped out on the effort and used their budget room to give them raises, ok. But a search like this can tank your budget for years, in a time where revenue is down, costs like gas are insane, wages are crazy. My local sheriff couldn't even afford to do a search if someone was missing, they have deputies working off the clock just to afford to have anyone on duty 24/7. There's no profit motive in public service.

  2.  @KittSpiken  you forget that the feds have zero to do with the local depts like this because the feds have infinite money, as they run the $ supply. My local dept can't even afford to pay our police McDonald's wages. We just raised police pay to $14/hr and that was a hard fought vote. Budgets are cut all over the US because tax revenue is down. A search like this can bankrupt a dept for years.
