  3. He's dead...which means technically he's innocent lol. He was never convicted, right, never tried, yes? And is presumed innocent. Subject is pretty good. Maybe 'alleged perpetrator' would work too. Suspect probably needs a higher standard of actual evidence to use for their official purposes. But yes, remember, anyone ever killed by police is technically innocent under our system, as you are presumed innocent until tried via due process and convicted by a lawful court. Doesn't work that way in practice of course, but tecnical law is the best law :)

  4. Ok, I did some digging, and SUBJECT is CORRECT. In federal investigation, you are a subject when you are being investigated. You are only a suspect once you are charged with a crime, ie you're a subject of an investigation, and once that investigation yields evidence that rises to the level of charging, you're charged and now suspected of committing said illegal act. Subtle difference but there the difference is. They can't charge a dead guy with a crime, so he'll never make it to suspect.

  5. Now, the two guys they arrested in the UK today in connection with this attack, they were subjects of the investigation into the attack, and now based on evidence they can be charged under, they've been arrested as suspects of being involved in the acts in question.
