My university told me that, oh youre a CS major, take all the loans you want you'll make tons of cash when you graduate, its a done deal! Honestly, even my academic advisors said that. Then the real world says no you need a degree AND 10 years experience for this internship YOU have to pay for, not get paid for. My sister on the other hand, an actuary, she was making $50k/year as a freshman in her internship, then after graduation she went full time at that firm and had almost a decade there when she went into commercial banking.

She's not entirely wrong. If id skipped college id be ahead and far wealthier today, just by virtue of not spending. All the time I'm thinking damn, that $50k I spent for nothing, for zero benefit, that was my third home down payment, my College degree cost came with far higher opportunity costs. The job I have now thay my degree has no impact on, id be retired today at 40 if id started then instead of going to college.
