If I go buy Bitcoin with cash from a random guy in person, to a new wallet, use that wallet only for that specific Bitcoin, and you do it properly, that's traceable but only to a dead end. You would need to find that person who sold it AND get them to say who they sold it to, which they may not even know. Guns are the same way. In my state it's perfectly legal to buy a firearm from another individual with zero paperwork or records or anything. I've legally purchased firearms from people I never even got a name from. 100% kosher here. That gun could go through 100 more hands, get involved in some crime, and the trace would die at whoever bought it from a federal dealer in the first place.
