  1.  Evilstorm11  The abnormal reaction would be to NOT freeze for a moment, get control of your physiological involuntary reactions, and then proceed to work the problem. It's a testament to the good writing of this show, with characters staying close to reality, that everyone is not instantly perfectly on alert, ready to fight, cool and collected capping 20 bad guys with some one liners thrown in. The hero showing a bit of vulnerability, some real humanity in that moment gives the scene weight. You REALLY feel they are in ACTUAL danger, not just threatened with some NPC henchmen to be dispatched in comedic ways on the way to The Big Bad Guy.
