  1. I'd destroy them in a year. Not even red wings hold up in actual hard use, like my water plant. Constant water and pure chlorine gas exposure kills $500 boots in a year or so. So my employer buys me new boots every year. KEENS are the best I've ever tried, after all these.

I never thought my municipal job would have better benefits than a oil job. $160/year allowance for 30 years, that's almost $5k they nabbed from ya. Keen boots, made in the US, is where I settled after trying all these, including red wings. I work in a water treatment plant, 12,000 steps a day plus running 3 miles a day.

  4. Red wings last almost a year here in my water plant. Nothing lasts more than a year, so no reason to get too expensive. $250 Keens last just as long as $600 red wings here. My boss even spent hundreds having his red wings refurbished after a year before he gave up, several hundred bucks each time. Constant moisture, fire house blasting, and constant pure chlorine gas, it's over. Stainless steel falls apart here if it's exposed to air too long. Also, we use sodium permanganate, and it burns through everything, especially leather.
