@kelvinbritz9051 Russia is 11% of the worlds land mass. Putin COULD send all of his forces to Ukraine, the supply clerks, garrison troops, border troops, sailors, and depot mechanics, but he'd not have a noticeably more powerful force and the power vacuum would allow a half dozen republics to suddenly feel like becoming independent. He is using what he has, just committed his ground reserves, is hiring mercenaries, and seeking aid from China. These are not the actions of an army with oodles of force to spare. The Russian invasion is stretched too thin on three Ukranian fronts. He might have done better to have skipped Kyiv and just taken the coastline. It is too late to disengage from any of those fronts to conduct a major offensive as they would have to withdraw into Russian territory ( or Belarus ) load onto trains and move openly to the chosen front. Ukraine has the advantage of interior lines of communication, so they can shift more forces faster to meet them.
Russia did not just "run out of supplies", They took the undefended borders and when they hit the main line of defense, they stopped dead. A failed breakthrough wastes a LOT of men and material. What Russia has in abundance is artillery shells and missiles. You can expect to see a LOT of bombardments of cities, because his unmotivated army cannot progress. Artillery gunners just fire at coordinates from positions of relative safety. It's going to be very ugly. Putin is already sacking generals left and right to head off a coup. Russia is weaker today than it was last month and will weaken more with each passing week. It will soon be a third world country hiding behind their nukes. Putin's paranoia has done more damage to Russia than anything he feared from the timid West.

@martieasedx_7970 I don't want to seem vague but in Michigan, which is not a "stop and ID" state, so the police cannot just stop people on the sidewalk and ask for ID, nor are passengers of vehicles required to offer ID. The rules for drivers of motor vehicles are different. The plain language of 257.311 is very clear. A driver "shall display the [operator's license] upon demand of any police officer ..." Since there are no binding cases, we just look at the clear, unambiguous wording of the statute. A motorist is required to "display" the license, not give it to the officer. So, holding it up the window should be sufficient.
However, I would not recommend that a motorist refuse to surrender his or her license. First, an officer could argue that he or she needed to confirm that the license was not forged or altered. The driver's refusal to surrender the license under that circumstance could, believe it or not, amount to resisting and obstructing, a criminal felony charge for which you could go to jail.
This actually happened; a driver held his license up to the window, refused to give it to the police officer, who could not read the license, and was subsequently arrested for resisting and obstructing. That charge was upheld by an appeals court.

@gamingforever9121 There is not supposed to be any restriction on "arms". Arms includes, rifles, machineguns, mortars, artillery, tanks, planes, ships, etc. I must add that WMD's: Nuclear, Chemical and Biological are not generally considered to be "Arms" or "Armaments". Their manufacture, possession and use being limited to nation-states and regulated by treaties between nation-states. Our constitution DOES recognizes the authority of international treaties. The straw man: "If we let people have short barreled riles then they can have nukes." is meant to look absurd. It actually IS absurd as Arms and WMD's are not interchangeable terms. WMD's are not the tools of war, they are the tools of diplomacy-in-force.

When the great depression hit, factories closed their doors. Years later for WW2, someone with a key, re-opened those factories and we went back to work. In the 70's I worked in such a factory, using machinery built during the 1920's, still good to go. It makes me very very sad that now when a company closes, valuable and possibly even strategic machinery is ripped from the floor and sold for scrap metal. That factory will not be re-opening regardless of the fates of nations. One by one, even the old buildings succumb to fires and weather. It is almost as though, as a society, we do not want the factories re-opened regardless of changing economies. If we resume full scale pharmaceutical production, will we have to buy the machines from China?

@IJBiermann I'm "educated" enough to know that in most of the swing states the vote counts are supervised by Democrats, even in GA, my Republican home state, the elections are coordinated by a bipartisan institution and yet, the bulk of vote counting is done in urban counties in the Atlanta metropolitan Democratic controlled areas by Democrats. In Democrat states, there is even less Republican presence in the counting rooms and the polling places, except for poll watchers. I received quite an "education" on voter fraud a few years ago while serving as a poll watcher in a state which did not require voter ID. The election officials received a sealed box of blank ballots and they were counted ( they had serial numbers ) and I certified the number of blank ballots. About ten minutes before the polls opened, just before distributing the ballots to the tables, nine blank ballots had vanished completely right out of the box. Not long after the polls opened a bus appeared and the driver came in to vote. After he returned to the bus, nine people left the bus and voted. They returned to the bus and another nine people left the bus and voted, including several who had voted already. I called this to the attention of the Democrat election official and was told that no one had authority to check anyone's ID at any time. After that exchange, one of the bus voters would enthusiastically hold up a number of fingers every time he came in to indicate how many times he had cheated the system and prove that nothing would be done about it. Every voter from the bus went to the second table from the left, said nothing, received a ballot and the election worker struck off a random name from the rolls. Lax voting laws, biased or indifferent supervision of the poll workers allowed a coordinated effort by at least one poll worker, one bus driver and about 25 other individuals to cast almost 400 votes. How this type of voter fraud is done is that the driver has pre-marked ballots and hands them to the "voters" who carry them in and receive a fresh blank from the assigned worker. They then vote the pre-marked ballot and carry the blank back to the bus driver to be marked. Sometimes the "voters" are paid for this work, other times they are volunteering. It is unknown how many of these buses were at how many precincts. As for your ad hominem insults: I have degrees in History and Business, I have "read a book" and I have actually SEEN organized voter fraud. You can tell me lies, you can call me names, But I was THERE. Some people are naturally ignorant, others choose to be so.

There IS precedent: Nearly 20 years after police bombed the headquarters of the militant group MOVE, a federal jury on Monday awarded $530,000 apiece to 24 homeowners who were suing the city over the fatal bombing and failed attempts to rebuild.
"Thank the Lord, our day of deliverance has come," said Betty Mapp, one of the plaintiffs. "It took 20 years and now it's over with the city of Philadelphia."
On May 13, 1985, police trying to evict armed members of MOVE from a West Philadelphia rowhouse dropped an explosive from a helicopter. Police then ordered firefighters to keep their distance as flames killed six adults and five children and consumed 61 homes.
Embarrassed city officials promised to rebuild, but the new houses were defective and millions of dollars spent on repairs failed to solve the problems.
After John F. Street became mayor in 2000, he suspended the repair work, declared the buildings too dangerous to live in and offered the remaining families a $150,000 buyout. Although 37 homeowners took it, the remaining 24 sued, and the jury decided Monday to award them more than three times the city's offer.

The 1983 U.S. Senate bombing was a bomb explosion at the United States Senate on November 7, 1983 The attack led to heightened security in the DC metropolitan area, and the inaccessibility of certain parts of the Senate Building. Six members of the radical left-wing Resistance Conspiracy were arrested in May 1988 and charged with the bombing, as well as related bombings of Fort McNair and the Washington Navy Yard which occurred April 25, 1983, and April 20, 1984, respectively.
After a four and a half years investigation, federal agents arrested six members of the Resistance Conspiracy, on May 12, 1988, and charged them with bombings of the Capitol, Fort McNair, and the Washington Navy Yard. On December 6, 1990, federal judge Harold H. Greene sentenced Laura Whitehorn and Linda Evans to lengthy prison terms for conspiracy and malicious destruction of government property. The court dropped charges against three co-defendants, two of whom (including Susan Rosenberg) were serving extended prison sentences for related crimes. Whitehorn was sentenced to 20 years; Evans, to 5 years, concurrent with 35 years for illegally buying guns.
On January 20, 2001, the day he left office, President Bill Clinton commuted Evans's and Rosenberg's sentences. Today these terrorists give leftist lectures on college campuses and help organize leftist protests.

It sounds like the forests can "catch and release" a lot of carbon which is already present, so no net increase in carbon, yet the forest is made of captured carbon. By these standards, I can fish a lake and as long as I put back more of the fish than I keep, I am "increasing" the fish in the lake. That IS true in that moment, but it is still a net loss of fish. Trees are made of carbon; plant them. Her facts are sound but her interpretation is biased. Is she REALLY going to have us believe that a barren desert is better than a young forest? She lost me with "We don't HAVE twenty years for the trees to grow!" Yeah, we really do. If you put more CO2 into the atmosphere, the plants WILL grow and increase. I grew a jug of algae in the lab and something magical happened when I added a little bit of CO2, It grew out of control, making lots of O2. If you feed it, it will grow.

You make a very good point, but the US military does not bid out it's ammunition to foreign nations because they might not be our friends in a conflict. For the same reason, it was foolish for us to allow foreign nations to monopolize many strategic supply lines. It is, of course, impractical for any nation to supply ALL of it's normal needs. National Security sometimes means ships and tanks, sometimes it means, a secure supply of petroleum, sometimes medicines, and sometimes something as simple as sugar. For quite a few years now, leaders have neglected that "Secure" feeling that you have with cash in the bank (growing GDP), a reliable car ( reliable transportation network and infrastructure) and medicine in the Cabinet ( Pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity ). I don't feel a need to make everything we want economically, but there is an advantage in being to make almost anything that we NEED, even if we cannot do it as efficiently as someone else.

Conspiracy to obstruct justice is good, wire fraud is good, evidence tampering is a slam-dunk, the statute of limitations has run out on insider trading, mishandling classified material works with thousands of counts, theft of government property was settled by her returning WH property, willful destruction of government property, to wit: cellphones, could work. Perjury is still a possibility. I'm not a lawyer, just a former peace officer but I've seen people imprisoned for far less. Treason? not a chance' that is a term tossed about far too casually. See: Article III, Section 3, Clause 1. It's not about what you do, or even who you know. It's about what you know ABOUT who you know and how much power they have.

@geninji6117 She did in fact leave the jail in a police car with GPS. That's why she switched cars about 1/2 mile from the jail to a car parked where there were no cameras. Not a stolen car, but one she bought under a fake name; they got a really good head start. Ten days to catch fugitives who have pre-positioned resources like a car and clothes is pretty fast. A typical escapee can be found somewhere along a straight line between his escape point and his mother's home, but this was an atypical escape. Was the jail mismanaged? YES. The mismanagement seems systemic, profound and long term. I suspect the voters will have that on their mind in the next election. As soon as the Hooterville jail discovered what happened, they called in the professionals from the US Marshal's. Because hunting real fugitives is what THEY do, not look around the hood for a bail jumper. Shortly after that, almost every cellphone in Alabama received an alert message. I know, I got one. It is foolish and possibly disingenuous to attribute malice when simple incompetence is easily seen. She embarrassed the Sheriff in a career killing move, thus there was zero motivation to not press the hunt fiercely. Fortunately, the feds were doing the actual manhunt. The local Sheriff's office was just the hotline base as the locals would have neither resources nor jurisdiction for this event. Basically, the Sheriff provided coffee for the pros, and the pros found the fugitives. P.S. My brain was fully developed by the Nixon years, before I was a college degreed peace officer. TLDR: You don't know what you're talking about.

Sates have traditionally assisted federal agents enforcing federal law because it was in the state's interest to do so. Catching bank robbers and fugitives, etc. The federal government (who have zero policing powers other then collecting taxes and regulating interstate commerce ) cannot compel any state to do their work for them. (an unfunded mandate). I am an old man. When I was a young man, congress still made laws with an eye on their constitutional limits. They did not "Ban" weapons they did not like, they lacked the authority, so they taxed them out of the market. Later, instead of banning pot, they required a tax stamp. The Gun Control Act of 1968 was legal because it was "regulating interstate commerce". While it was somewhat anti 2nd amendment, I do like that it eliminated the ability of a 14 year old to drop a money order in the mail and receive a Luger pistol in the mail 3 weeks later. And then our Democratic ( autocratic ) Congress under Nixon, was all too happy to toss The Constitution out the window and began decades of banning anything it did not like without regards to interstate commerce or taxes. A practice which continues to this day, from showerheads, freon and toilets to drugs and guns. I have mixed feelings about these laws, but I liked things better when we could count on Congress to remember that The Constitution was written to direct and LIMIT their power, not enhance it.

Those damned boomers. They got the voting age lowered to 18, and campaigned for the EPA so that your rivers would not catch fire. Boomers opened opportunities for women in the Universities and the workplace like had never before been seen. (Harvard admitted women in Fall '72). Boomers got women in fire stations and police cars. Who do you think BUILT this digital world we live in? Who created video games and the internet? Boomers were born into a world which had no room for them, crowded schools, no spaces in college. No place in the job market, but boomers soldiered on and turned the stagnant pre-plastic, pre-transistor world around. Most of the things that you take for granted every day were either created by boomers or created to supply the demands of boomers. The world now belongs to the next generations, stop kvetching and show us what you've got. Boomers remade the world, some for the better, some not. Do more, whine less. Boomer children were taught that girls would grow up to be housewives or nurses or teachers, but Boomers made them astronauts, professors, doctors, soldiers, financiers and entrepreneurs. You should be ashamed to curse boomers while enjoying everything they built for you, socially and technologically.

@DizGoneWild916 Not to worry ,big businesses have discovered us and are moving here, to a place where a higher percentage of the population are willing to work for a living. I did not understand what you mean by "broke asses" how many billions in unfunded liabilities are California,Illinois and New York carrying on the books as an unofficial "balloon payment" to stick on business and industry in the near future? Yes, we have more Federal cash inflow, mostly because we welcomed large military installations. ( That distorts the numbers) Some because American firms just "fly over" while foreign companies actually drop in and then move here. I don't know where you live, but where I live, my upper middle class home is property tax free because I am over 65. What are your property taxes? We don't need to create extra business incentives ( yet we sometimes do) because our NORM of business taxes are very low, and our real estate costs are comparatively low.
We can provide the workforce. I could commute to any of three universities or
four colleges or two vocational colleges from my home, and did. You underestimate your competition and empires, some political, some business have paid for that same mistake. Alabama and Georgia are on the field to play and some big blue states have put us in a position of advantage due to your long history of mismanagement. When you hear the economic boom of the 21st Century, the sound will be coming from Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

Only fools believe that corporations pay taxes. Corporate taxes are passed to the consumer, so Amazon consumers worldwide would have been sending money to NY. Yes, employees pay federal taxes. With FEDERAL taxes, who pays and how much is irrelevant to the State and City Government. What NY lost was State and Local Taxes plus the bogus corporate taxes from consumers. Plus the re-investment of cash in the community by small businesses building up to accommodate the needs of Amazon employees. Yes, Amazon was going to kill local jobs, their 25k employees were not going to buy a refrigerator locally, they were going to order their meals from Amazon. They had no intention of taking advantage of the well known high quality clothing available in NYC. They were certainly not going to live in new or renovated apartments ,built and renovated by locals. The money made by locals providing those goods and services were surely going to also limit their spending to Amazon purchases, as though people are more inclined to buy online if the online company is next door. Your, killin' me, Smalls.

@hotstinkytaco
We all risked our lives on wishful thinking every single day of the cold war. Rational people just do not end the world, and crazy people are watched carefully. See: Vasili Aleksandrovich Arkhipov; Also: Stanislav Petrov; the Norwegian rocket incident; Able Archer 83. I suspect, but will never know, that the US had some nuclear near misses during the Soviet Coup when we did not know which side had the power to launch or did both sides? But The US President made a TV appearance one night with a brief message to the American people, an oddly unimportant message considering that it broke into regular programing. What was unique about that appearance is that the officer carrying our nuclear "football" was standing at the president's elbow, something never done before or since. Some officers that I knew believed that he was sending a discrete message to Moscow. Russian pilots shot down our pilots in Vietnam, and we did the same. See: MIG Pilot by Lt. Belinko and nobody went nuclear. People have a determination to NOT murder the world. Survival instinct is not wishful thinking. When we invaded Iraq, if Russian planes had fought us for that air space, do YOU think that WE would have launched a first strike? When NATO sent planes against the Serbs did Russia respond with a first strike? They had gone to war in 1914 to protect Serbia. Nukes exist to protect nuclear powers from existential threats, they have no other real value. No one is going nuclear over Ukraine. When Russia comes for Poland it will be the same. Putin threatens, and NATO cowers. The appeasement response is how WW2 started.

We have a long and rich history of protesting injustices. A protest is empty if it lacks a goal. ALL Americans were outraged when we saw the Rodney King beating. White Americans were denied their right to protest that brutality, the right to speak up and to march in protest in safety because of our race. All Americans know that George Floyd was a victim, arrests have been made and trials will be done. It is discouraging that protests are sometimes necessary to speed the engine of Justice, but they did. If the protests now are demanding that juries only do guilty pleas, then we no longer need courts, just lynch mobs. I would think that minorities in America would be the first to reject the idea that mobs and their small violent elements should hold justice hostage to their will. Fear of angry mobs were the cause of many acts of injustice in the courts against African Americans in the past. Where we see injustice, we have a duty to protest. We all should be free to protest without fear of the police or of other protesters. Large protests are a magnet for political radicals who use the mass protesters pull the police away from nice targets for their criminal or political gain. We have all seen real protesters risk themselves to prevent the criminals that follow in their wake and they are American heroes who refused to allow their voices to be hijacked by criminals. The police need to police their own and remember that they are us. We all saw the white faces in these protests, there because police brutality by bad cops is NOT usually racist, it is usually just unfit, evil men with a little power who would abuse any of us, knowing that their brothers in blue will cover for them. As for the peaceful protesters addressing their just grievance, we who were not there still stand with you in our hearts, and votes and ask that when you take over the streets, you GOVERN those streets justly and drive out the criminal parasites that diminish YOUR cause. When these abuses happen you have MILLIONS of allies in that day, and then because a handful of opportunists destroy, assault, and burn, day after day, some of those millions become deaf to you. Please do not allow professional protesters, thieves, and anarchists to hijack your hard work and undercut your massive support, as has happened time and again.
