  1. I'm old and do not know current military doctrine, but back in the early 70's it was obvious to us that US Army training for urban combat was largely based upon the Russian experience in Stalingrad, from the artwork in the manuals depicting European architecture to the methodology lining up with first-hand accounts from Russian survivors. If that's how it plays out, a lot of Syrians won't be going home.

  14. It seems that there is no oppressive, autocratic regime that Russia is not asking for help. I expect that N. Korea will be wanting to "blood" some of their troops soon.
