I'm old and do not know current military doctrine, but back in the early 70's it was obvious to us that US Army training for urban combat was largely based upon the Russian experience in Stalingrad, from the artwork in the manuals depicting European architecture to the methodology lining up with first-hand accounts from Russian survivors. If that's how it plays out, a lot of Syrians won't be going home.

If Russia does not maintain power to the coolant beneath Chernobyl, Eastern Europe does not need to fear what else they may do.
33
@Ahypnion If Russia chooses to Irradiate Eastern Europe and render it uninhabitable, they will become a world pariah and that status will be remembered 10,000 years after all of our civilizations have long fallen to dust and oral history. Men with sticks and spears will kill members of the Rus tribe on sight forever.

@falsecatalyst3936 His family won't be killing, but they are realistic about his odds and are hardened to how their country is run.

The US Military is the most powerful, but he doesn't even order his own breakfast.
7
@Mr markov Markovic Ukraine was maintaining the site until the Russians took it over and cut the power. If it ain't broke don't fix it; if it IS broke, don't buy it. It's heating up more every day without the coolant working.

Once Putin is..retired, a lot of healing can begin.
5
@fwcolb Yessir! Every grunt knows the exact nature of the enemy in the other trench and bunker. "OK, Pull back those Syrians! we found a veteran. Time out until we can bring in our own cannon fodder." Stop it. I can't breathe.

Russians have never had "rights"
3
Russia did this to their returned POW's after WW2.
3
Never throw a rock while you still have spears.
2
Ukraine has already made offers of amnesty. Most people would just prefer to go home. If they can.
2
The Russian Foreign Minister is still claiming that they have not invaded Ukraine. They cannot very well have the troops bring their stories back.
2
@tvs9978 Spies are never prisoners of war and they know the risks.
2
@globalwarrior2795 And a bang-up job they did so far. It fills the world with confidence.
2
While I support Ukraine, it is improper to publish ANY POWs on video.
2
Better back home for Putin if the bodies return to Syria than to Russia.
2
@SA-hh9mv Yeppers
2
Putin has been "channeling" Stalin for a while now. Surely he would not invade another Slavic country, bomb cities or threaten nuclear war. Surely he would not imprison dissenters by the thousands.
2
Don't you just hate it when that happens?
2
They really aren't short on vehicles.
1
They are being told that the nazis captured their sons and to expect the worst. The State will not let that narrative collapse.
1
They'll sell you the whole tank for 100 dollars. They're Russian.
1
@fedupgamer9075 How many of them can Ukrainian infantry take out with one hit on those BMP's?
1
@avrilclelland6705 He's been dodging assassins for over a week.
1
He's not going to commit world suicide over Ukraine. What keeps him from strolling into Poland and Germany? All he has to do is roll his tanks in and say "whoa , wait, I'll nuke anyone who interferes." NATO member or not, Putin can wipe out with conventional weapons any nation that he pleases if NATO always buys the threats. Does the fear of an allied nuclear response keep him from attacking NATO? He fears a nuclear response to his nuclear attack just as much. He knew what to say to make the West cower in fear and shame. He'll do it again too. No nuclear power would use the doomsday option unless facing an existential threat. Ukraine ain't it.
1
Russia has not been a super power for decades. It's all been marketing.
1
If they were unwilling to fight their neighbors, they will be less likely to fight their own. It is good that they refused to continue fighting call it a win.
1
He might be both. In the US Revolutionary War, our best-known traitor and possibly our best general were one and the same. Benedict Arnold.
1
In 1917, they turned their weapons the other way.
1
They work cheap, outbid the Russians.
1
OK. Who sent out for Middle Eastern? We ordered Chinese
1
Ops Blac They serve an autocratic ruler and go where sent. Like in the US Revolutionary War, Hessian mercenaries sent by Hess did not have a "dog in the fight" and deserted in large numbers. Expect them to surrender en masse.
1
Different Russian forces have different symbols. These indicate from Belarus
1
NATO is letting Putin call all of the shots. One is weak militarily; the other is just weak-willed.
1
I think the word has gotten out.
1
@MatthewChenault Yes, the same thing happened in the USA back in 1860. They will adapt.
1
We will respond with a cryptic, ambiguous letter of protest.
1
It is the USSR that has bio WEAPONS labs, and has had TWO deadly "oopsies" with Anthrax from them in my lifetime. Our CDC is a biolab, My university had a biolab, if we do not study biological agents, in labs, we don't know how to fight diseases. Some propagandists want to confuse laymen by confusing the terms. You would REALLY not want to live in a world that lacked biolabs.
1
But did they return the Tupperware?
1
@mikimaus5096 Many in the British government wanted peace with Germany in the 1940's, It's a good thing for us all that wiser heads prevailed. How much is a cup of coffee today in rubles? tovarisch
1
@mountainguyed67 Plug leaks early for less damage later.
1
They'd sell those tanks for 100 dollars. Why fight?
1
@vmm5163 That was stupid of them also.
1
A few miles ahead in the woods.
1
Quick! Somebody wake up Biden.
1
Rogier - "Never underestimate Biden's ability to eff things up" - Some guy who would appoint him to office.
1
My Lai
1
There is a lot of truth here. Russian units can safely pass through abandoned villages. There is no denying it.
1
Nobody is holding a gun to their heads. They fight the invader, as people usually do.
