Putin: "I'm gonna charge into Ukraine, topple their government and install a new president." Weeks Later: "I've decided to retire from public life for health reasons."
37
The stupor power of vodka.
16
We need to "not send" a squadron of A-10's
9
So it's now the "Evergiven Bridge"?
7
A skeptical person might think he's lying.
7
I'm too old to go there and fight. If defeating Putin means that I have to tighten my belt or pay more for gas, I'm game.
6
That's why the world is going after his backers. It looks a lot like retirement time.

Humans have no immunity to Covid-19, therefore virtually every human will be inoculated. The choices for inoculation are: (1) Get covid-19, (2) Get vaccinated. Not making a choice IS a choice. I wish to thank all of the anti-vaxxers who are volunteering to be in the control group for the long term study.
4
@tahahagar7664 Not by most cartographers.
3
Well, Russia did manage to seize the uncontested frontier on their way to the MLR and then.....stopped.
3
@theshadowoftruth7561 Putin's War has done more damage to Russia than even his paranoia about NATO feared. He'd been channeling Stalin for so long that he thought he had Stalin's army.
3
With luck, it won't go into Putin's bank account.
3
Putin's propaganda machine will claim that Ukraine used a dirty bomb and can retaliate.
2
@pelephotography How to end a war: Go HOME.
2
Their enemy are Russians. Offer to buy their tanks and equipment for 100 dollars and a case of vodka.
2
In military parlance "lines of communication" means supply lines, not telegraph lines.
2
One option would be to just go home. Peace suddenly appears.
2
@georgea5991 He gave several, mostly incompatible, reasons to excuse his murders. He's throwing excuses at the wall to see if anything sticks.
2
@rahatzaman8120 The US is "casualty averse" and spends a lot of money on stand-off weapons.
2
Yes; What if the entire war is just CGI?
2
@robertevans8010 No one is doing an extinction event over Ukraine. His health does depend on the health of the oligarchy bank accounts.
2
@BlackholeTtson452 They would but for their impaired cognitive ability.
2
Ohhh, the "Fallout plan" that sends a cloud over half of Russia.
2
The "blue on blue" fire should be interesting.
1
@arispol7424 Don't spend all your rubles in one place.
1
Is it a popular place to camp out for a month's holiday? Exposure TIME counts.
1
@paulmorgan62 So the master plan was to grind the Russian army into dust?
1
@pelephotography Yes, Churchill could have skipped the Battle of Britain and The Battle of The Atlantic; and Russia could have skipped the Great Patriotic War if they had just surrendered to German slavery. Lend Lease from the US DID prolong the conflict considerably, as that was the desire of those parties wishing not to be enslaved. Free peoples do make choices.
1
@montinaladine3264 I'm not certain that N. Korea and Venezuela have anything Russia needs to buy with it. Putin is finding the world's markets closed to him, cash or no.
1
By that rather infantile logic, WW2 would have been shortened by the US supplying arms to both the UK and Germany. That is not really how it works. It IS true that self-defense does take longer than surrender, but the long-fought Battle of Britain ended in victory for the weaker force, while surrender would have cost a lot less in the short term.
1
@TheOne30264 The USSR dared not interfere with the supply flights to Berlin. No difference.
1
They are unified in a decision to not prevent the destruction of Ukraine.
1
I only Ukraine had a few A-10's...
1
@MattBlytheTheOne Ancient Aliens?
1
@colincampbell767 Yes, I'd say mortars. Combat Viet Cong style.
1
Holodomor
1
@ellisgreen1479 Big armored machine on tracks with a round thingy on top with a gun. To a civvy it looks like a tank. And has more power than early WW2 tanks. It's NOT a tank, but journalists are not generally well informed.
1
I think a stall CAUSED Putin to offer (previously rejected) talks to allow a real resupply opportunity. Those trains of vehicles and goods heading toward Ukraine from Russia have not stopped.
1
It is better to remain at peace and be thought strong than to invade a small neighbor and be proven weak.
1
@rahatzaman8120 The are saving them from death.
1
@deadrose007 Maintenance has been slack on their jets as well.
1
@veeranthangaraj3578 And yet, they are now committing their ground reserves.
1
@nomadhabit Syrian rebels did a lot of dogfights? Have a lot of SAMs?
1
"Inching" is like a glacier moves, but every inch since they got to the main line of resistance has been bought in Russian blood and treasure.
1
@fat_basturd5345 A bargain.
1
@georgea5991 It's not WW2. Today any infantryman might be carrying a weapon more powerful against tanks than a German 88, and with 50% more range and better accuracy.
1
@rahatzaman8120 Something is changing. Every army fields what they needed in the previous war.
1
@eddietat95 An NLAW behind every blade of grass.
1
One of those countries will have new leadership.
1
@BlunderMunchkin Replacement vehicles. The weird camo ones are Ukrainian
