  2. It is interesting that Russia is pretending to remember WW2 while forgetting the lesson. The USSR (including Ukraine) was invaded by a powerful, ruthless enemy. The Soviets (including Ukraine) rose up in defiance and endured horrific casualties and hardship to drive the enemy invaders out and crush them. Today they cannot understand that Ukraine will do the same again.

  3. This was a terrible action by Russia for so many reasons, I can easily imagine that if China had invaded Russian territories in 2010, that Ukraine would have opened up it's warehouses to ship arms and volunteers to Russian defense.

I'm not a military man, but I can imagine a time approaching when, faced with mounting casualties, an unmotivated army's troops simply will refuse to conduct offensive operations, but remain willing to hold in place purely to defend themselves. If that day comes, Russia would do well to withdraw. It is easier to order men to fight than to order them to die for foreign soil.

  7. The needs of a wartime army are vastly different than a peacetime army. Russia failed to adjust their supplies before invading. I'm sure that they are rapidly depleting decades worth of ammunition earmarked for training.
