  4.  @priceisright1580  There is a difference between a nuclear "Superpower" and a nuclear "power". The ability t launch thousands of retaliatory strikes plus additional revenge strikes months later via submarine makes a superpower. N. Korea testing a handful of weak nukes in mineshafts does not a "superpower" make. Any nuclear power can commit nuclear suicide, but only a few superpowers can make the planet unlivable. A nuclear nation might do well to not ally itself with a nuclear power that might be willing to commit national suicide without first seeking agreement on the suicide pact. Nukes are like very powerful suicide vests. They will protect you only for as long as you don't actually USE it.
