@samartinez1988 My wife was poor and she borrowed to get a STEM masters degree. She paid off her loan and makes a LOT of money. That is one way to leverage a loan to increase income. One way to NOT leverage a loan towards income is to spend a few years at an expensive school to study philosophy or art history. Those who choose, pay. I worked as a janitor to pay for my college as I went. But the OP was about loans, so my experience is irrelevant. There is no doubt that the experience of being poor is very different than that of being wealthy; that's not a new phenomenon, so it is much more important for the poor to use credit wisely.

@danstacks414 Truth. K-12 should devote a minute to teaching people to not be swindled.

Credit is a tool that can be used to leverage income. When that tool is used clumsily, it does the opposite. One must make careful choices because loans must be repaid. I have no desire to repay loans made to people who made poor choices; i was not allowed to participate in the choices.

@benb3584 Be sure to return your home to the original owner too.

@jackhowland3737 People should be taught early that others WILL scam them. Banks are not worthy of your trust. I've seen a LOT of businesses that seek 18yr old HS graduates to sign debt contracts for everything from schools to health spas, preying on their lack of life experience. Shameful.

@benb3584 Well, in the Jubilee year it all has to be returned, some heirs can be found.
