NATO was not clawing its way East. Countries near the threat were looking for allies; And the threat became violent, as expected.

We're stuck waiting for Chinese parts. Welding rods. Torch tips. Steel. Instruments. Safety goggles. Gloves. Bolts. We have the software though.

@f1aziz Sovereign nations are, by definition, able to treat with other nations as political equals. No nation needs seek the permission of another unless it truly is not a nation at all. If the boundaries of NATO move, it is because individual nation states elect to enter or to leave NATO. NATO does not employ force to include any nation as other alliances have in the past.

Somehow, I suspect that the US taxpayers will end up with the bill for this war that we aren't in.

@jaycristoval6155 I am American, love my country and support Ukraine. Now that's said, EVERYONE knows that the US is a fickle ally who changes foreign policy and priorities every few years on a whim. No one should base their national security on promises from my country; buy your own weapons.

@jaycristoval6155 I certainly must agree that state actions should be limited to state actors. World bodies have denounced the use of mercenaries on many occasions. And I concur. The US military often enlists foreign citizens into it's armed forces, generally on a voluntary basis as we no longer draft or conscript troops. When it did have a draft system in place, foreign nationals residing in the US were not exempt from the draft (varies by decade). I see no reason why any nation cannot enlist in it's service any individual whom they consider suitable, a normal power of a sovereign state. The US constitution is a blueprint for a neutral country as we were until 1941. Our system of government does not lend itself well to stability in foreign policy, and thus I would say that the US makes for a very fickle ally, regardless of past, present or future administrations.
