He knows the price of a cake. They were looking for a big lawsuit payout.

He was likely the only one that would not so they chose him for the lawsuit money and fame.
1
Another baker might have made the cake and then there would be no one to sue. It was necessary to find one with religious signage.
1
They could not sue a cooperative shop.
1
I think he only uses unfertilized eggs, you DO know that that is the norm, right?
1
Forcing him to make the cake is involuntary servitude. I am glad that slavery did not just make a comeback.
1
Don't some places have separate dining for males and females due to religion?
1
According to the court, you can tell em to pound sand.
1
It is perfectly rational to avoid bakers who want your business and seek one who will stick to his faith so that you can drag him into court.
1
Is that involuntary servitude? I don't recall compensation being an element of that amendment.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic I think I just read that the Supreme Court differs from your interpretation. Their decision is the one that will stick. See: Roe vs Wade
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic It is delusional to believe that he opened a bakery because he had a lifelong desire to deny someone a cake. BTW the Supreme Court disagreed with your assessment, despite endless harassment and litigation his actual religious freedom to create only cakes that he wants to create as an artist was held to be his constitutional right. He can LEGALLY refuse to create art that goes against his faith, even in Colorado.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic Bestiality? Pedophelia? You are the person endlessly changing the issue to one about Race when the case was not about race. if you can shift the focus, everyone can.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic Fifty percent of the population are of below average intelligence. Irrelevant statistics to this case sure are fun to share.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic It's a good thing that none of the parties or arguments of this case revolved around a religion regarding mixed race couples.
1
@spacec4824 I would go so far as to suggest that he would have been unwilling to bake a gay themed wedding cake for a straight couple who wanted one for some reason. The Same service regardless of sexual orientation.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic I personally know a gay man who was married to a straight woman for over ten years and fathered two children before he left her for his male partner. I personally know four lesbians who married men. One who was married to men twice. Two of them gave birth to children.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic He does not get to judge who is sinning, but according to the court's FINAL decision on this case, he does get to decide what cakes he will create.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic If he could be forced to create the cake, it would be involuntary servitude. (That's also known as "slavery") If they selected a cake from his inventory and he refused the sale, he would be discriminating.
1
@DerekWilliamsMusic According the the US Supreme Court, he did so legally.
1
Intellectualism. It is a microaggression against the ignorant. Idiocracy was supposed to be comedy, not prophesy.
1
If the demand was that high it sounds right. They did drive past many bakeries seeking the Christian one out though. Your business plan might not be a good as you think, as the couple refused to even try welcoming bakeries.
