I was thinking philosophically: If people are going to be imprisoned for insurrection over a protest in the Capitol Building ( not the first one ). Perhaps they might have been better served to have taken the place and held it until relieved. I was always taught that it is better to be hanged for a sheep as for a lamb.

@pollyparrot8759 The government should have tied the minimum wage to the cost-of-living decades ago, but neither party will give up using it for political gains. They raise it in large jumps that do more harm than good. If it had been tied to the economy, business could forecast and budget for it as they do every cost. I kept track on a spreadsheet. Although the increases in minimum wage have increased few times, the increases average a LOT more than the COLA increases of social security. IF the COLA is honest, then the minimum wage would be lower today than it is. Small business should not be put in a position to bid against the government. People expect more money for work than they do for ...nothing. This is part of the Democratic Party's "war on the middle class."

@gamingforever9121 There is not supposed to be any restriction on "arms". Arms includes, rifles, machineguns, mortars, artillery, tanks, planes, ships, etc. I must add that WMD's: Nuclear, Chemical and Biological are not generally considered to be "Arms" or "Armaments". Their manufacture, possession and use being limited to nation-states and regulated by treaties between nation-states. Our constitution DOES recognizes the authority of international treaties. The straw man: "If we let people have short barreled riles then they can have nukes." is meant to look absurd. It actually IS absurd as Arms and WMD's are not interchangeable terms. WMD's are not the tools of war, they are the tools of diplomacy-in-force.

@bdan6954 The people of Russia controlled and surrounded their capitol building and held it against the USSR until the USSR blinked. The media was using the term "People Power" to explain it. Memories are short.

@droyal18able The US might of arms did not end the USSR, The Russian people did after a failed coup by Soviet extremists. The Cold War lasted a generation, sabre rattling did not bring them down.

@droyal18able They managed the threat of nukes and survived the 50's just fine. The USSR faced the threat of nukes and survived the 60's just fine. The USSR faced inbound TAC B-52s armed with nukes 24/7 and survived just fine. The USSR went through the 80's facing ICBMs and the US spending on "Star Wars" and survived. Suddenly when the Russian People step up and say "NO MORE!" you want to claim "It was OUR NUKES!"
