This is why I will be cremated rather than buried with a stone marker. When the last person who knew me is gone, I am gone forever. Why would I need to leave my name on a rock? I could tag a rock someplace tomorrow, and it'd have no less meaning.

A few years ago, I had a near fatal industrial accident ( miraculously made it almost unscathed) I saw that in the next instant I would be dead. What would have been my last thought? It was: "I thought there'd have been more". The tons of falling steel was deflected by something and almost missed me entirely. I am really enjoying "more".

Like most people of a certain age I made a lot of choices which ended well or poorly. I regret none. The future is an unknown and as every choice was made with my best guess, getting a do-over would find me always making the same choices.

First you learn that your eyes/brain do not really have that much resolution and almost everything that you "see" is a mental reconstruction based upon earlier experience. This helps stage magic work and also explains why your devoted husband did not notice what you did to your hair. Then you discover that at the molecular level you have never actually 'touched" anything. The tiny space between atoms is still going to be there. Finally you realize that since your sensory experiences are mostly a subjective mental construct in your mind, the same is true for everyone else and that YOUR "reality" is NOT the same reality as anyone else's. They might be close, or not. TL/DR: There is such a thing as reality but none of us experience it.

Having heard the voice recorder from many plane crashes, I can say that if it comes suddenly, the most common last words are: "Oh Sh!t". I cannot know what were the last thoughts.
