  1. - solar panels are COMPLICATED TECHNOLOGY ... and thus "replace rather than fix" - wind turbines are SIMPLE TECHNOLOGY ... and thus "repairable" Alternative power generation is NEVER an "either-or" decision, because it could just be a trivial version of the wind-wheel on a "Western Farm" pumping water "to a higher level" ... and then using that water as a power source. It can even be a cycle using the same water over and over again, and the point of it is to store energy in that way, which even eliminates the need for a large battery storage (which always includes the LOSSES from the DC - AC transformation).
