  2. A big mistake is to "do this in one go" ... because when you have the "big ball" you only/MOSTLY compact the outer shell ... but cant really influence the core anymore. Thus MAKING A SMALL BALL "PERFECT" FIRST is far better, although you should leave the surface rough so any new layer can "cling" to it.
