  1. The biggest "american problem" is the SUPER EXTRA SIZE OF THE ROADS ... which make any crossing for a pedestrian "a hike". I live in Berlin and the average width of a road is one lane in each direction plus (optional) parked cars on either side. That makes traffic EASY TO "UNDERSTAND" for a pedestrian and thus increases safety due to the fact that you dont have to look out for 3+ lanes of cars at different speeds "aiming for you" (because the pedestrian is a nuisance in the USA).
