James May - one of the Top Gear/Grand Tour guys - built his own version of Motorcycle + sidecar ... from MECCANO, which is a children's construction set basically made up of small metal strips and tiny screws. There are also tiny electrical motors ... He did drive around the Isle of Man TT course during race week (during the closed hours) and managed to complete a lap together with his buddy Oz Clarke. It took them HOURS with frequent repairs on the go.
