@ExplainingComputers Well ... I only went to one Adobe "conference" once (about 10 years ago) ... and back then they were promising "movies within a PDF". I have lost a lot of knowledge in that regard and I dont think PDFs are incapable of any effects. My ancient Adobe Acrobat 8 already has tools for moving 3D animations, so I do think it is probably possible to do the bullet point-blend-in in a PDF. The "blending in of bullet points one by one" [the one sensible effect] could at least be simulated by making several slides and adding another point each slide. Its a workaround ... but not that hard to make ... just copy the slide several times and delete the points you dont want to reveal yet. Btw. ... what is wrong with "raising hands" when answering a multiple-choice question? Why do people "have to" use power [-> there is a reason for global warming ... wasting energy on frivolous non-essential things] for something they can do much simpler? If it is an "online presentation" ... it is easy enough to bring up the results of a poll ... podcasts do that stuff all the time now. Dissolve (and whatever other effect there is) between slides IS a gimmick ... sorry, because it doesnt add anything to the content and only distracts with "fancy graphics" (because people want to be fashionable) and you can do that in a PDF too, you can even time the slides to display automatically for an auto-running presentation. Small hint from a prolific poster of long comments and "formatter of books": do try and format your posts. Walls of text make people less willing to read them.

@ExplainingComputers The point of a PDF is that you dont even need any Microsoft program to display it ... and you dont need to have several versions (one of them is the "work without having to use Power Point" format. I have no idea how a Power Point runs on Mac or Linux ... but a PDF is probably easier.

Microsoft Office is GARBAGE ... if you want to use images in your Word or PowerPoint ... because a) resizing and positioning them is a pain [I spent months formatting the dissertation of my sister in Word] and most importantly b) Microsoft includes the full graphics file into the document ... so you end up with a potentially HUGE files which - for instance - make switching to the next page rather slow in a PowerPoint. If you HAVE TO use Power Point ... turn it into a PDF (of the appropriate page size) and use this for the presentation [Ctrl-L is fullscreen mode].

@ExplainingComputers Personally I use InDesign to create my presentations, which are then turned into PDFs ... and "fancy gimmicks" are for simpletons of the "loads of flashing lasers and exploding ships make a good Star Wars movie" category. I made lots of presentations for my father and since I had to scan detailed maps and never knew which bit of it was actually needed it was always "a bit larger file size". Working with that in Microsoft is simply impossible.
