  1. +AndrewProductionsTV The seesaw idea is stupid, BUT using a sort of "catapult" for the first few meters of a launch would probably reduce the fuel cost by a lot. Of course you have to hollow out a mountain, because the catapult needs to be vertical ... and the whole thing is rather complicated. Obviously this catapult isnt gas-powered like the ones on an aircraft carrier but rather with counterweights like an elevator.

  2. +Jason Steven The metal wont be the problem, but rather the LOW MASS of the returning spaceship (which would have to propel a MUCH larger mass up) and the need to hit a very very precise spot to land.
