  1. In "ye olden days" ... daughters would get MONEY (as dowry) ... the firstborn would get ALL the property (and the title) ... and secondborn sons needed to forge their own career. The point was to KEEP THE FAMILY INHERITANCE [the name was connected to the land, property, business] INTACT/IN ONE PIECE. "Splitting equally" only works when you basically leave nothing of significant value AND if you do not have a FAMILY BUSINESS (a business that MEANS SOMETHING TO YOU) to leave to your heir. Americans dont understand "family inheritance", because they arent connected to their place of birth and move across the country for a job.

  2. The wealthy family has A CHANCE to give their children - BOTH GIRLS AND BOYS - a good moral foundation and work ethic ... and if they can do it for girls they can do it for boys ... so giving nothing to the boys is stupid.
