@johnmaxwell1356 Women have ALWAYS worked ... first on a farm or assisting their husband-craftsman ... and then - post-industrial-revolution - in factories or offices. You can find many single women in literature working as governesses ... in the works of Jane Austen, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Emily Bronte. The whole "women dont work and just watch TV" is a thing of the 60s, because the economic situation - wages in the USA - has stagnated while the costs have gone up.
