Back when I was growing up - 70s, West-Berlin - there was a sarcastic assessment of US education which basically said: "25% of americans couldnt find their own country on a map of the world." This is a statement that sounds like a study had been made ... but in any case it seems rather REALISTIC ... and that is BAD for any nation. Oh and we are talking about the 1970s/early 80s!

On the topic of "protecting women in the region" ... well PAKISTAN is part of "the region" and you just have to look up "PAKISTAN FORCEFUL CONVERSION" to know how young women (minors) of MINORITIES (christians and hindus) are treated. North of Afghanistan - Kyrgysztan - it isnt better ... but at least the women arent minors there (and religion isnt a factor).
