Sorry ... have to give this one a thumbs down because of the clear hatred/bias shown towards long story series ... showing a clear - and I must assume willful - ignorance of the counter-example of DEEP SPACE NINE (or even better: BABYLON 5 ... the original version of DS9). Star Trek - both the original series and TNG - being episodic was a WEAKNESS ... because you ALWAYS have to spend time on "introducing the villain of the week", which gives you less time for the actual story. That is why DS9 was the best series ... Enterprise only failed in that regard because its storyline was COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS (like every story involving time travel and alternate dimensions/universes); if they had stuck with a SIMPLE story of "discovering the universe" and then an appropriate "overall danger" it would have been much better. The best episodes from TNG were ALWAYS the ones with recurring villains/themes ... like the Borg and the Klingons ... because they let you GO DEEPER INTO THE STORY! The PROBLEM is NOT "its a big arc of a story" but rather IT IS A SHITTY STORY which is COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE STAR TREK UNIVERSE AS WE KNEW IT. So ... Drinker ... you are WRONG this time!
