  1. That concept for a spaceship is wasteful ... because you will only have full gravity at the end of the rotating bits ... but if you build such a thing in the first place you should just add a full ring.

Nah ... they should be carved into a big rock, because REAL interplanetary spaceships need to have solved the fuel / propulsion problem, but inventing forcefields would be a second step after that ... and a big chunk of rock which absorbs all the tiny particles you fly into at near lightspeed is a cheap solution to the problem.
