  2. Why does everyone consider "rocket science" to be the "really smart and tough stuff"? THIS (philosophy) is MUCH harder because you cant simply "build a prototype and test it" as with rocket science!

  3. The one thing I am missing in this discussion is the impact of MODERATION. They only talk about "this side's viewpoint" and "that side's viewpoint" in their PURE and EXTREMIST FORMS. Personally I am a great fan of Paraceslus' key sentence of "the dosis makes the poison" because it can be applied more or less everywhere (and not just to actual chemical substances) ... and maybe "salvation" isnt in ONE IDEOLOGY OR THE OTHER (as it looks now with all the extremists bashing each others' heads in) or trying to silence the other opinion (Google manifesto, Ryerson University being bullied into stopping Peterson from speaking on free speech, ...) but rather in JUST TAKING THE BEST BITS OF AN IDEOLOGY TO CREATE A MIXED WORLD THAT WORKS WELL ... kinda like "allowing capitalism" but "taking it on a socialist leash to prevent abuse of workers AND to provide health care to everyone" (basically the british NHS: it works but is pretty much socialism).
