Sadly ... war is SUPPOSED to be brutal and bloody for both sides so politicians only use it as an absolute last resort, BUT the advanced military development in the USA has led to them using drone strikes to simply kill enemies without risk to their soldiers. This is a dangerous development and could lead to unnecessary wars in the future. People simply do not learn from history and think they can "cheat" to "win".

@paulinalabrecciosa5479 There are STILL some EXTREMISTS in Argentina who would repeat this tragedy ... and who cling to the lie of "the Malvinas". What would you say if we Germans were to attack Poland ... because they have some territory now which we owned "back in the days"? That would be STUPID and WRONG ... but you only have to watch "that episode of Top Gear" to know how a certain part of the population STILL feels; they NEVER accepted that "those pieces of land arent ours".

@williamcampbell4876 Britain was LUCKY in several points ... so your first comment only shows your arrogance. 1. they managed to actually hit the runway with the long-range bombing run with the Vulcans 2. the argentinian aircraft carrier spotted the task force but couldnt launch planes due to lack of wind [3. they managed to find & sink the Belgrano] in brackets because "sinking" wasnt luck based but "finding" was; the aircraft carrier escaped suffering the same fate. Any of the first two could have seriously weakened the task force and prolonged / changed the war significantly longer than the british people were willing to fight it. Fighting a war in Europe is different to fighting far far FAR away from home ... basically D-day thousands of miles across the globe isnt that easy and every lost ship would have reduced capabilities by a lot.

@morzh1978 You need to realise that there has ALWAYS been "blatant propaganda". Just think about how the crusades started ... and how villages were "manipulated" by the opinions of the village priest. It didnt get better with the advent of newspapers ... and only because of the internet do we actually have the ability to "see from the other side". Not even the "good West" was innocent of propaganda during the Cold War ...

Sadly ... the "underlying sentiment" is still present in Argentina, so it isnt really gone with the general. Of course the war was started to divert attention from internal problems ... but if you look at the ending of the Top Gear special heading towards Ushuaia and the absolute RAGE which people had towards "a bunch of idiots who wanted to play car football" just because of CONSPIRACY THEORISTS claiming that "the number plate was a dogwhistle reminder of the war" ... https://youtu.be/1-TiihVMGE4 ... the problem still exists and is being kept alive. As one of the argentinian conscripts put it: "there is nothing argentinian here" ...

Having the films from the operating theatres taking care of the wounded is good to show the bloody side of the war.

Just watch the second one of the "Patagonia episodes" of Top Gear to hear that Argentina doesnt only claim the Falklands but also some other islands and stuff owned by Chile ...

14:26 "The United States was anxious to avoid a war between two of its closest allies." As usual ... the USA likes to ally itself with brutal dictatorships.

Back in the days I believed Britain "clearly"/"obviously" won ... but now I know they only won because of TWO "lucky strikes" ... 1. the argentinian aircraft carrier encountered calm winds so it could not launch fully loaded planes to attack the task force while it was still far out and "in a big clump" and 2. the loooong range bombing run from Ascencion island actually hit the runway of the airport at Stanley ... so they had to use planes from the mainland which then had less fuel for "fighting time"

1:40:40 Its not about "pride" but rather about "principle" ... because you cant let other countries "start taking land from you", which is a lesson learned from the 1930s when Germany simply "annexed several bits and pieces". As could be seen in "that Top Gear episode" ... Argentinians are STILL "claiming the Falklands" AND OTHER LAND belonging to Chile ... but there needs to be a strong message to every one of those people: STOP IT ... because this whole "we once owned this land, so it is ours by right" garbage would NEVER END. As a german I would certainly not think "claiming the land back we lost to Poland" would be a good idea and argentinians need to move on just as well.
