Britain got lucky TWICE during the start of the war: 1. It is amazing how LOW-/NO-tech the Vulcan bombing run was and how they actually managed to hit the runway ONCE ... out of 21 bombs. 2. The argentinian aircraft carrier had spotted the fleet on approach, BUT that day there was a DEAD CALM and they needed headwinds to launch their aircraft with a payload. Since they knew they were followed by a submarine they withdrew to port ... rather than getting sunk like the Belgrano.

@ellepant Sooo ... you support the Nahtzees in Ukraine? Back in 2014, during the first bit of conflict there were also ISIS fighters on "our" side. That war was caused by THE WEST breaking loads of promises and treaties ... because why do "we" need to integrate a country RUN BY CORRUPT OLIGARCHS into NATO and the EU? Maybe it is you who "knows nothing", eh?

Hint for future landing operations: BRING SOME SCRAP SHIPS TO PARK ALONGSIDE THE VALUABLE VESSELS ... they are "empty" and thus FLOAT HIGH and it doesnt matter if they are hit by a missile / bomb AND if the actually valuable ships are hit ... they can serve as "flotation devices" and also an "escape raft" for the people on the valuable ship. You could even install a fire control system / water cannons on those otherwise empty ships to help saving the people and ships.
