Keep people like Trudeau in power and the trend will only continue.

I've had a 2016 Soul since I bought it new in 2016. It was my stay at home wife's grocery getter. It's sitting just under 30k miles and it still runs like it was new. I've owned 6 Kias and have never had any issues with them that weren't covered under warranty, and all of those were minor. If your Soul treats you as well as the 2 Spectras (2006), 2 Sportages (2012 and 2025 still own), Soul (2016 still own), and Sorento (2016 still own) have treated me you'll be good for a long time.

Government subsidies.

Cheap credit + government handouts led to stupid people making insanely irresponsible purchases. Combine that with companies that thought the free money train would chug along to the moon just kept putting out more expensive vehicles, compounded by greedy dealerships who, at one point, had people bidding against each other to "buy" these cars. Now there's a bubble, and it's going to have to burst. It amazes me that there are people out there who will finance for 84 months. Insanity. It also amazes me that anyone is wiling to negotiate based on monthly payments and not total purchase price + interest rate. I bought a brand new Kia last Saturday and the dealer tried to pull out all the tricks, including telling me that he would give me the price I wanted but I wouldn't get the 10year 100,000mile warranty. I looked him straight in the eye and said "You can't revoke a manufacturer warranty." and he started sputtering and admitted that that particular dealership offers an ADDITIONAL 10year100k and THAT'S what I wouldn't get because it was valued at $500. I then said "Oh, I didn't realize you'd already baked in +$500. now I want you to lower the price by that much more." It got really uncomfortable but he did it. I walked out paying the price I wanted to pay ($4k under MSRP) at 1.9% (they initially told me they couldn't go lower than 7% before they ran my credit) and I didn't even look at length of loan or monthly payment until we'd already decided the total cost and interest rate. The sad part is that I heard a different salesman use the same "you don't get the warranty" tactic on an older couple while I was waiting for the finance guy to prep the paperwork, and it worked on them.

For that particular used one, absolutely. Your comment begs the question though; do you actually know anything about Kia? I've owned 7, and in my experience they are more reliable, have a better warranty and come with better options than basically all of the competition in the price range.

The car market was artificially inflated by irresponsible people who were spending government handouts as fast as the government could print the money. The delay in the correction in the market is due to financing. If the only way to buy a new vehicle was cash we'd have seen the car market crash much sooner than we are.
