  3. Usually I'm on board with you Stossel but you are WAY off on this, especially with regards to the import of food. Sure you get a jar of pickles and the store that sold them to you gets money, but it makes a difference whether those cucumbers were grown and processed in India vs here in the U.S. You are handwaving away the farming, processing, shipping etc. Handwaving away all of the things that happen before the transaction between store and customer is silly, especially when you use false equivalence, as if one job is the same as the next. Trade itself isn't the problem. The reliance on trade to the point that you become wholly dependent upon it is.
