I think the Cocomelon people have simply ramped up the techniques that television advertisement companies have been using forever. One of the reasons I got rid of live TV from my house was when I noticed just how much of an effect commercials had on toddlers, both my own kids and their friends and cousins. The kids would be running around acting wild, like toddlers do, but the second a commercial would come on they would all stop in their tracks and all attention would be glued to the TV. I started to suspect that there was either some sound outside of the hearing range of adults or something else going on, because it was eerie. I pointed it out to my family and they all started noticing the same thing.

@samyelson We noticed it on all types of commercials, especially those that played during sporting events. It's also one of the many reasons I stopped watching the NFL etc.
