  1. The stimulus gave many Americans more cash at one time than they had ever seen in their accounts. Of course this led to irresponsible spending. People were willing to pay over MSRP as there was effectively a bidding war on new cars, and the influx of cash was effectively 'free' so it cost them 'nothing' to overpay up front. People are notoriously bad at parsing out long term spending on debt and loans, so naturally here we are.

  2. Excess cash always filters up because the vast majority of regular/middle class people have poor impulse control. If anyone thought the influx of printed 'stimulus' bucks were going to end up anywhere else....I have a bridge to sell you.
