@mijicmugendo I actually think English is a very nice language. Most of the Germanic languages we have here are not so rich and versatile and even lexically correct. So, English is great, but not because of the English.

Tea N Biscuits Come on. There is no Irish English. There are only two schools of English: British English and American English. The Irish use the British system.

@mijicmugendo But you write English using the British system. I had to write a report with an Irish girl and she consistently used the British English. I, however, refused and used AmE. The result: a half English and half American English report.

@mijicmugendo Come on Anthony, to use a British expression: you have a chip on your shoulder; it is really noticeable. I know you are upset about the English, but you shouldn't be: Ireland now is doing better than the whole of the UK, both economically and politically. Indeed, the Irish have many allies in this world, the US being an important one. I'd like to assert that the Irish bargaining power as a result of the political leverage the Irish have in the US, is subverting the British soft power, or what is left of it.

@mijicmugendo I do not know the English very well. I noticed that they existed when they decided to leave the EU. I also know them from the WW1 and WW2 and stuff and their poor oral hygiene. But I am not perse negative about the British; the youngsters are actually okay and fun. I think it is a generational thing; I.e. Brexit.
