What does EU have to offer the world? it has no military of any size or consequence they are not an industrial power they don't have any critical or natural resources all they have is an entitled colonial past where they have been raping other countries for the benefit of their own population now the influx of migrants from their former colonies who are rapidly becoming the majority look at London with their high Indian, Pakistani and North African population these migrants are becoming an important political factor in all of Europe EU has an over inflated view of their own importance these countries are living off the past of their former colonial rule as enslavers RU asked twice to join NATO - rejected by the USA on both occasions. RU is not trying to be the enemy of the west, it is the west who needs RU as an enemy to justify their $trillion annually war machine it is the west who chose to make RU their enemy & the west chose to attack RU through their proxies.
