@joeordinary2trumpheroofrussia No, it wasn't. You don't know history. First of all, it was a Mongol Empire, not Mongolia. The Mongol Empire was a horse empire - it was always on the move. They didn't have a set capital because Mongols were nomads. Second, the Mongol Empire never really "conquered" anyone as we understand it. It was ruling its conquered territories through "over-rides". The Mongol horseback riders would ride to their conquered territories on horses to collect yoke in gold. They would come to conquered Russian territories, say, several times per year to collect the yoke. They never "ruled" over Russians in the way we understand it today. Third, the Mongol Empire dissolved. So Russia wouldn't be able to join it anymore even if it really wanted to. And fourth, parts of the Mongol Empire today are parts of Russia. The Mongol Empire "entered" Russia so to speak.

@Jean-rg4sp Well, if the United States was created in 1776 as an independent state, then it should have recognized the 2 independent republics - Donetsk NR and Lugansk NR? Shouldn't they? They should know how hard it is to fight for freedom against a tyrannical government. Yet, they never recognized the Donbass republics and pretended like it wasn't happening. The US took the Ukrainian side all the way! Even though the Ukrainian government was illegitimately couped in 2014. Why is that?

What do you think the mainstream media would say if we told them that? Just curious.
