Your beliefs, customs and values are not more important than those of others. This is an international company. Our clients and your coworkers comprise many different cultures. Most will hold values and beliefs very different than yours. I guarantee that you will spend a great deal of time being offended. Suck it up. You are not entitled to any special treatment simply because of your existence. Respect everyone. Period. This is non negotiable. If any of this is upsetting in any way please reread the first line. I've had 20 somethings read it and walk out during an interview. Some have even exploded with rage.

@500dollarjapanesetoaster8 A couple of years ago I had a client's employee (20 something entitled guilty YT liberal of course) burst into my office. She didn't feel safe with a Jew (one of my engineers a 50 yr old woman) in the building. I pointed out that the Muslim members of her team didn't take issue and why would she? And that the Egyptian owner of her company didn't take issue either. There was of course the obligatory rant about Palestine. Because my engineer was the one responsible? I suggested she lodge a complaint with her HR department. Turns out she didn't even work on the same floor as us. Just saw her Star of David in the elevator.

@RT-qd8yl Never said love. Communist Authoritarianism is not a culture in any sense of the word. But if we were ever contracted to a Chinese company I'd expect all of my employees to treat everyone with respect and dignity. We were involved with an irrigation project in Sudan. I didn't have to agree with their brutal authoritarian government to keep people from passing from thirst or starving from a lack of irrigation. Obama and Biden are absolute monsters. So is Justin Trudeau. We still have US and Canadian clients. We treat everyone with respect.

@blackjackjester Yesterday I had one sit down with his phone in front of his face. Didn't ask if he could video the interview. Completely disregarded the sign at the entrance prohibiting video. Just sat there staring into the screen. After a "huh?" and "what?" or two I thanked him for coming. All from someone with a 4 year engineering degree. I bet he thinks he aced the interview. This is what I have to work with when hiring for an entry level position. This is why I don't have anyone working for me under 40.
