  1. When hiring an engineer the first thing I look at are the qualifications and work history. Eliminates 20%-30% (a guess) right off the bat. Then I'll do a quick search for their online presence. Well over half are eliminated because of stupidity. Then comes the interview. If I hear pronouns, justice, activist or anything about race/gender entitlement they are disqualified. Out of 100 applications maybe 10 make it to the second interview. Then half are eliminated by a more thorough background investigation. All this assuming I didn't hire an out of work engineer I already have had a working relationship with.
