  1. 10-15 years ago Monster Guitar Cables was suing anyone in the music industry that used the term "Monster". Band names. Song and album titles. Everyone. Even if the band/song/album predated their company. They lost in a spectacular fashion and alienated everyone in the industry against them.

  2. Dimarzio guitar pickups has made an industry out of copywriting common terms used by other companies then forcing them to pay royalties. The did a copywrite on cream pickup bobbins (they weren't the first). They will copywrite the patents of others and then outspend them in court.
