I had a developer inquire into my property. When I declined he said with a smirk, "We'll see about that." I let him get pretty far into it before I informed his people that there are 3 protected and at least 1 endangered species on my property. His smirk went away.

@Chris_at_Home Just get a few Houston Toads and a pair of Bald Eagles. You should see the look of terror in a developer's eyes. 😁😁😁😁😁😁

@mitchhaelann9215 There's a list somewhere from the state and a college. Don't recall any trees but there were some other plants on the list. They show up every year and scoop up buckets of tadpoles for relocation and do a survey. There's a massive property tax break to do absolutely nothing with my 510 acres. I work very hard to do as little as humanly possible. 😁

@mr.behaving I have often wonder what would happen if some of my Houston Toads made their way to a property who's developer had p!$$ed me off.

@Chris_at_Home When I was a kid my employer (Pet Shop) also had a successful B&B/Farm in N Louisiana. After fighting for years the power company put massive power line towers across his property. One in front. One in back. Nobody wanted to stay there anymore and he lost everything including the pet shop. I was 13 and learned never to trust the government.

@Chris_at_Home How much of your property did they steal?

@mariatorres9789 In Texas, all I had to do was mention HOUSTON toad and it was over. 😁

@flychomperfly Research as to whether there are any endangered, threatened or protected plants or wildlife. Including migratory birds and insects. Can even a small corner be declared wetlands? Are there any wetlands anywhere in the vicinity that might be effected? Nothing the Federal government loves more than protecting wetlands. Even if you can't stop the developer on legal grounds maybe you can make it so expensive it won't be worth their while. At least delay them for years if not decades.

@sealand000 It was just arrogance.
